Been told your hormones are “normal” but you still feel off? Learn why blood work often misses the full picture and how to uncover what your body actually needs after 40.
“My labs are fine… but I don’t feel fine”
This is one of the most common things I hear.
Women come to me saying:
- “My doctor said everything looks normal”
- “They told me it’s just my age”
- “I was told to eat less and move more”
But at the same time:
- they’re exhausted
- they’re gaining weight (especially in their belly)
- they’re waking up at night
- they feel puffy, inflamed, and uncomfortable in their body
And the thing is… they know something is off.
They just don’t have the answers.
You’re not imagining it
When women come to me, they’re frustrated.
They feel dismissed.
Confused.
Sometimes even starting to doubt themselves.
Because on paper, everything looks “fine.”
But in their body?
Nothing feels fine.
And I want you to hear this clearly:
If you don’t feel good, there is something going on.
It’s not in your head.
You know your body better than anyone.
Why blood work often comes back “normal”
This is where the disconnect happens.
Blood tests use what are called reference ranges.
That means your results are being compared to a wide group of people — including both healthy individuals and those who are already struggling.
So “normal” doesn’t necessarily mean optimal.
The thing is, most women I work with don’t want to feel “average.”
They want to feel good.
Have energy.
Sleep through the night.
Feel comfortable in their body again.
And blood work often isn’t designed to look at that level of detail.
What blood work doesn’t always show
Blood testing looks at hormones that are circulating in your system — but those hormones could have been there for:
a few days
a few weeks
even longer
It’s not always a clear picture of what your body is doing right now.
So you can end up with results that look “fine”… while your symptoms are telling a completely different story.
Your doctor isn’t wrong — but they’re not looking at it this way
I want to be clear here.
Your doctor isn’t wrong.
They are doing their job within the system they work in.
But that system is designed for sick care, not ongoing, personalized health optimization.
You get:
10 minutes
one issue at a time
long waits between appointments
There isn’t space to look at the full picture of your body, your lifestyle, your patterns, and how everything connects.
And that’s where things get missed.
How I approach this differently
This is exactly why my work looks different.
I don’t look at one number in isolation.
I look at:
- your symptoms
- your eating patterns
- your sleep
- your digestion
- your stress
- how your body is responding day to day
I use a thorough root cause assessment to understand what’s actually going on.
Then, we use saliva hormone testing to go deeper.
Why I use saliva hormone testing
Because I don’t want to guess.
Saliva testing shows:
- what your hormones are doing right now
- what is actually available for your body to use (bioavailable hormones)
- which areas need the most support
And instead of using broad reference ranges, we look at optimal ranges.
Because the goal isn’t to be told you’re “fine.”
The goal is for you to actually feel good.
This gives us clear direction.
Not another diet.
Not another supplement guess.
A strategy based on your body.
What working with me actually looks like
This isn’t a “here’s your plan, good luck” approach.
I’m hands-on.
We meet 1:1 every two weeks.
You have ongoing support.
I review your logs weekly and watch for patterns.
We adjust as we go — in real time.
You don’t have to wait months for answers.
You don’t have to figure it out on your own.
And your plan...
It’s fully personalized to you — your body, your life, your schedule.
Because no two women are the same.
Where I start with clients
Even before testing, I start by reducing stress on the body.
That often looks like:
- removing inflammatory foods
- stabilizing blood sugar
- supporting digestion
- improving sleep patterns
And at the same time, I’m learning you.
How you think.
How you move through your day.
What’s realistic for you.
Because that matters just as much as the plan itself.
If you’ve been told everything is “normal”…
…but you don’t feel normal
If you’re:
- tired all the time
- gaining weight and can’t explain it
- waking up at night
- feeling uncomfortable in your body
- trying everything and getting nowhere
The thing is, there is a reason.
You just haven’t been shown what it is yet.
This is exactly the work I do.
